Taylor Print prefers artwork supplied as an EPS file or PDF file.

EPS files can be exported from applications such as Corel Draw, Illustrator, Pagemaker, Quark Xpress and other layout programs. EPS is ideal for designs that don't contain images, and where PMS and spot colours are used. Fonts should be converted to outlines (or sent as curves).

PDF enables the exchange, management and printing of formatted documents regardless of computer platform. There are plenty of programs out there that create PDF's.

The original file is printed to Acrobat Distiller to create a PDF file. If made correctly, this file will be complete, embedding fonts, images and retaining layout. It will also compress the original file size allowing it to transfer and print quickly.

When making your PDF, please consider the following:

  • Try to make the PDF page size 10mm to 20mm larger than the image area to include trim and registration marks in the file. If this is not possible, make the page size exactly to finished size, or if the image bleeds add 2mm right round
  • It is essential that colours are set up correctly in the original application. No colours can be altered from the PDF. RGB colours are not acceptable. If they are contained in your original file, they must be converted to CMYK when making the PDF. If PMS colours are used, select leave colour unchanged (in distiller).
